MY BLOODY VALENTINE Original S/N 2009 Concert Poster by Lindsey Kuhn, green girl
With UNEARTH April 24, 2009. At Fillmore Auditorium, Denver, CO. Poster by Lindsey Kuhn. Lindsey Kuhn – Is there a cerebral connection somewhere between art and skateboarding? For some people skating is an art, for others art has nothing to do with skating. Then there are those who combine these two things to form a lifestyle. Lindsey Kuhn has found a way to turn his passions into career, and has been both skating and creating art for over three decades. He was born in Evanston, IL, but grew up on the coast of Mississippi where the now infamous Swamp ramp(s) stood for over ten years. In 1983 he began screen-printing t-shirts primarily to pay for maintenance of the massive ramp. Those simple t-shirts have ballooned into an internationally known company called SWAMP. Today Lindsey is best known for his silk-screened rock posters for hundreds of bands like The Melvins, Tool, Atmosphere, AC/DC and more. Swamp also does custom printing and publishes work for other artists. Lindsey moved to Austin, TX in 1990 and within a year started printing posters for Southern Californias Limagerie Gallery. Limagerie set up a small flat press shop in Austin produce rock posters for Frank Kozik, as well as, Serigraphs for other artists they represented. Such as Robert Crumb, Ed Roth, Robert Williams, Joe Colman, and others. While printing all this great art, Lindsey realized there was a demand for what he had been doing for years and seized the opportunity to learn from these lowbrow masters helping to revive the lost art of the Rock Poster. He has continued to create posters for over 20 years, keeping his D. Ethic alive by printing his own work as well as other artists from around the world through his print company called SWAMP, which is now located in Denver, CO. My Bloody Valentine are an alternative rock band formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1983. Since 1987, the band’s lineup has consisted of founding members Kevin Shields and Colm Ó Cíosóig, with Bilinda Butcher and Debbie Googe. Known for their use of distortion, pitch bending, and digital reverse reverb, My Bloody Valentine’s musical progression resulted in the band pioneering an alternative rock subgenre known as shoegazing. An original signed and numbered poster designed b y Lindsey Kuhn , for a 2009 My Bloody Valentine concert in Denver, CO. Pearl Jam 2003 Tampa Florida Concert Ames Poster Surfer Girl Surf Sleater-Kinney
Pearl Jam 2003 Tampa Florida Concert Ames Poster Surfer Girl Surf Sleater-Kinney. Poster is free floating not glued or pasted to foam board. Size: 23″ x 17.5″. Condition(details see photos). Poster was framed, and not glued or pasted to foam board, easier and more preferred not framed. There are very mild wrinkles on the back from not being straight in a frame, nothing that shows on the front or can’t be flattened, see photos where you can see this, not really wrinkles just can’t think of anything else to call them but you can see it on photos of back. Does not show anything on the front. Coloring exact same as it was and just like another one I had. If you look on back there are 6 “dent” kind of like marks, I’m assuming from when it was framed originally, They do show mildly on the front, one at back top of girls head(photo shows this) 1 right to the left of Pearl Jam wording near top, one about in the middle of poster, One to the left of surfers head and one about inch and a half from bottom, they are mild markings seem to run in a line down close to middle. I can see them looking close, see photos, overall looks fine, but these are there. Edges and corners look just fine. Read Description, see photos. If looking for Gem Mint more than likely not, and all I can do is go on what I see, and add pictures, but do not pretend to know anything about grading. Just nice looking posters. I will include anything wrong I can see with my own eyes best that I can. Brian Ewing’s work is a visual kick in the face! Perfect for posters his art captures a surreal world where beautiful girls, zombies & skull people exist only to share the soundtrack of your life, until your ears explode! Check out my other items. Brian’s perpspective on his piece. This is my 1st installment of the “Stitched Girl” series. Just trying to figure out what I wanted to get on paper. Experimenting with backgrounds, text and color combos. I was kinda worried how they would be received… Especially by my female friends. So far so good. I’ve had people offer to pose for the series after I told them what the blood and stitches mean. This piece was inspired by a few people I know. It originally started off as a sketch for the Tsunami Bomb tour poster (the character had clothes on then) but the client opted for skulls over girls. This was originally for another band but it never got printed. I was trying out a new printer that wanted my biz but couldn’t deliver. Someone there had a small problem with the subject matter and refused to print it. All the while, I’m in New York on the Warped Tour, and had no way of getting it to another printer. I didn’t own a laptop, and it never occurred to me to bring a copy of the file with me. The work was done and it sat there. I was bummed, the venue was bummed, the band was bummed and their label was bummed. So here it is, new band and background, and it got printed. I’m happier with this version. I’m a huge fan of Jake Bannon and Converge, so I’m proud that it was used for a cool band. Converge was formed in the winter of 1990 by Jacob Bannon and Kurt Ballou. They started by playing covers of hardcore punk, punk rock and heavy metal songs, being self-confessed “hardcore kids with left-over Slayer riffs”. The band soon graduated to playing live performances in 1991, after recording some demos on a 4-track recorder and eventually releasing full lengths including When Forever Comes Crashing and splits with bands like Agoraphobic Nosebleed. In recent years, Converge have enjoyed relatively high levels of popularity. Their popularity began to rise with the release of their breakthrough album, Jane Doe , the album that was named the number 1 album on Sputnikmusic’s “Top 100 Albums of the Decade”. This resulted in a four man line-up that is still intact today. According to Allmusic, Converge are “regarded as one of the most original and innovative bands to emerge from the punk underground”. As seen on page 18 of Brian Ewing’s book, “Don’t Hold Your Breath; Nothing New from Brian Ewing, ” published by Dark Horse Books. Date: October 12, 2004 Performers: Converge, Cave In, Between The Buried And Me, Scars Of Tomorrow Venue: The Troubadour, Hollywood Designer: Brian Ewing Dimensions: 16″ x 23″ Four-color screen print Signed by the artist.
