In fact I moved to Berkeley CA in October 1984 to go to tech college and record the Dead at The Berkeley Community Theater when the Grateful Dead announced that tapers would formally be recognized with their own designated taping section behind the soundboard. Mardi Gras shows were always some of my favorite Bay area shows back in the day and this poster is pretty awesome. Although Mardis Gras is typically held in New Orleans, it’s a party whenever the Dead play, so in 1995 they brought Mardi Gras to Oakland for three nights. They commissioned the famous artist Troy Alders to create the poster for the shows, and it is a timeless beauty. I think that he did a great job – this is an extremely nice piece of art! You don’t even have to be a Deadhead to like it. A hard to find item in any case, this one is extra special. Original first printing concert poster numbered 3310/7500.
