There is an entirely different process used in making each type of image. A lithograph is a very high quality machine printed image made by using a 4 color separation process much like how the covers of any color magazine is printed. A serigraph is a silk screened image. With a serigraph the original oil painting is scanned and separated digitally into each and every color found in the original. A separate silk screen is created for each and every color that was scanned. There are usually from 80 to 130 individual colors in the majority of some serigraphs. Each silk screen is precisely placed over the serigraph paper, and then by hand squeegee, paint for a specific color is applied. This single application of one paint color must then dry for at least 24 to 48 hours before the next color paint can be applied. It can take a serigraph up to 6 months to produce 1 run of as many as 500 serigraphs of the same image. Serigraphs are also produced in much smaller numbers than lithographs, and they are as costly to produce, and as close to the actual original painting as you can possibly get. Dead & Company Concert Poster Nassau Coliseum NY 11/5-6/2019 Masthay

Wonderful seeing all the brothers and sisters on this Fun Run at MSG and Nassau! The Shakedown Street at Nassau was also outstanding and I thank you for dinner last night. This poster was obtained from the outside GDM booth and placed flat directly in my car before the show. There are only 850 of these printed and I saw the last one grabbed from that booth. Heres my print for tonight and tomorrows. Shows at Nassau Coliseum! When I was asked to create this piece I instantly thought of David Byrds classic 1973 Grateful Dead poster from the same venue, the one where hes truckin and shes posin. My roommate in college, Corey White aka the Vegetarian Butcher, had the handbill hung up in our dorm room and I spent untold hours staring at it. Hence the Swell Dance Concert, a tribute to the amazing Mr. 4 color linoblock print, edition of 850, 18×24. Have fun tonight kids! Poster is 18″ x 24″ and. Will be safely rolled in a strong tube.
