An original concert poster that was used to promote the Sex Pistols, Damned and Clash performance that was due to take place at the Charlton (Should have been Charter) Theatre, Preston on 10th December 1976 as part of the Anarchy In The UK 1976 tour. This date had already been rescheduled as a replacement for a concert in Lancaster that was cancelled after the groups infamous foul mouthed rant on the TV show Today With Bill Grundy. The poster measures 51cm x 76cm (20 inches x 30 inches). There are pinholes to all corners and wear and tear to the edges. The lower left corner is missing a very small section and there is a 4cm (1.5 inch tear) to the right edge which has been repaired with tape on the reverse. The condition is very good minus. The first item is charged at the normal rate. Our Grading System Explained. Mint = As new. Near Mint = Almost like new with one or two very minor flaws. Excellent = Minor wear yet looks attractive and is perfectly usable. Very Good = Some wear and tear but overall presentable and usable. Club Lafayette Presents mystery group that will be known as. Friday 19th August 1977 WOLVERHAMPTON UK. Original poster (the Sex Pistols On Tour Secretly). Measures 16,5×33 inches, silkscreen black on pink light paper. The paper is white on the back & is slightly textured. Looks like the kind of poster used to be pasted on street walls. The pink front is slightly faded on the right part of the poster. There are some folds as you can see in the image & 2 small tape residual on the bottom center. The gimp mask design probably by Michael Collins(Seditionaries Manager)who used the same images for the Cambridge Rapist t-shirt. I obtained the poster in the late 90s from a dealer in Paris. I report from a blog that somebody affirmed that he saw an identical poster pasted on the street wall in Wolverhampton in Cleveland Street opposite to bus stop 126 the day of the concert. And another poster(yellow) from the same gig was spotted & removed from the street wall in the same area by someone else. For privacy I dont report the names. These are the only info I was able to obtain about it. Never saw any other copy or even an image of this poster. UPS included in final price. An original concert poster from the Kings Hall, Derby. The poster is advertising a concert by The Sex Pistols on the 4th December 1976. The support acts for the concert were The Clash, The Damned and Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers. This concert never actually took place. It was cancelled by Derby City Council following The Sex Pistols’ refusal to audition in front of their councillors, resulting in them banning that evening’s show. On December 1st The Sex Pistols appeared on Bill Grundy’s’Today’ programme. Two days later, on Friday 3rd, their Anarchy UK Tour was due to kick-off at Norwich for a 19-date concert tour, supported throughout by The Damned, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers and The Clash. Following the’Filth and the Fury’ media backlash caused after their appearance on the now infamous’Today’ programme, most of the dates were cancelled or banned. Only three dates on the whole tour actually took place, eventually kicking off at Leeds Polytechnic on the 6th and then playing Manchester’s Electric Circus on the 9th with the Buzzcocks, finally ending at Plymouth’s Woods Centre on the 21st. This particular poster came direct from the collection of the person who designed the poster and many of the other posters used at the Kings Hall Derby around this time.
