Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic. RARE Original first printing – 40 – Year Old Concert Poster. (my red watermark won’t be on this). This poster also contains photographic images of Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. Other notable musicians include Jesse Colter, Faron Young, Jubal Clark and Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker. This was the second year in a row that the Picnic was held at Southpark Meadows, an outdoor music and events venue on the west side of I-35 South. This year The Highwaymen – Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings were the main event. Neil Young, fresh from yet another Farm Aid concert with Willie would make his very first Picnic appearance. Location – Southpark Meadows, Austin Tx. Dated – July – 4 – 1985. Artist – Danny Garrett. Measures – approx 20 x 36 – inches. Condition – great shape, see picture, clean with no rips or holes. One very tiny 1/4 tear on right border. The artist sells this poster for 1,000. The original owner of The Fillmore property, Emma Gates Butler, hired James W. And Merritt Reid in 1910 to draw plans for an Italianate-style dance hall at the southwest corner of Fillmore and Geary. The Majestic Hall and Majestic Academy of Dancing opened in 1912 on the second and third stories of the building, where the usual fare was Wednesday night socials and masquerade balls. The Fillmore was a dance hall operating under various names and managements – The Get Acquainted Society, Ambassador Dance Hall – through the 1930s, and a roller rink through the 1940s. In 1952, local entrepreneur Charles Sullivan began to book some of the biggest names in black music into The Fillmore. The careers of the Grateful Dead, the Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Moby Grape, the Butterfield Blues Band, and countless others were launched from The Fillmore stage. The most significant musical talent of the day has appeared there: Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Cream, Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart, Muddy Waters, The Who – well, you get the picture. An original concert poster from the Wembley Conference Centre for a series of concert performances by Johnny Cash that took place between the 13. The poster measures 51cm x 75.5cm (20 inches x 29.75 inches) and has been previously folded leaving horizontal and vertical crease lines through the centre. There are several areas of creasing and slight scuffing/discolouration over the poster and there is a tear measuring 10cm (4 inches) to the upper right corner. The condition is very good minus. Our Grading System Explained. Mint = As new. Near mint = Almost like new with one or two very minor flaws. Excellent = Minor wear yet looks attractive and is perfectly usable. Very Good = Some wear and tear but overall presentable and usable. Good = Apparent wear and tear but with obvious deterioration of the condition. Poor = Extremely worn.
