Scarce and highly collectible large original vintage first printing concert poster advertising the “Pablo Jazz Festival’77” staged at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Thursday, 12th May, 1977, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, guitarist Joe Pass, trumpeters Roy Eldridge and Harry “Sweets” Edison, tenor saxophonist Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, drummer Louis Bellson, and double bassists Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and John Heard. Pablo initially featured recordings by acts that Granz managed: Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, and Joe Pass. Later, the label issued recordings by Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Milt Jackson, and Paulinho da Costa. The label also re-released 1950s recordings by Art Tatum, which Granz reacquired, and released unissued European live recordings of John Coltrane and his groups. In January 1987, it was announced that the label had been acquired by Fantasy Records for an undisclosed amount. The poster measures 59.8 x 83.7 cm approx. 23.5″ by 33″ inches and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. An original concert poster for the David Bowie performance at Festhalle, Frankfurt on the 20. May 1983 as part of the Serious Moonlight tour. It measures 59cm x 84cm (23.2 inches x 33 inches). There is a 1.3cm tear to the right hand edge, a 1.1 and two 1cm tears to the left edge and a 0.7cm to the top edge. The condition is very good. The first item is charged at the normal rate. Our Grading System Explained. Mint = As new. Near Mint = Almost like new with one or two very minor flaws. Excellent = Minor wear yet looks attractive and is perfectly usable. Very Good = Some wear and tear but overall presentable and usable. Good = Apparent wear and tear but with obvious deterioration of the condition. Poor = Extremely worn.
