At Colorado Springs World Arena. Is there a cerebral connection somewhere between art and skateboarding? For some people skating is an art, for others art has nothing to do with skating. Then there are those who combine these two things to form a lifestyle. Lindsey Kuhn has found a way to turn his passions into career, and has been both skating and creating art for over three decades. He was born in Evanston, IL, but grew up on the coast of Mississippi where the now infamous Swamp ramp(s) stood for over ten years. In 1983 he began screen-printing t-shirts primarily to pay for maintenance of the massive ramp. Those simple t-shirts have ballooned into an internationally known company called SWAMP. Today Lindsey is best known for his silk-screened rock posters for hundreds of bands like The Melvins, Tool, Atmosphere, AC/DC and more. Swamp also does custom printing and publishes work for other artists. Lindsey moved to Austin, TX in 1990 and within a year started printing posters for Southern Californias Limagerie Gallery. Limagerie set up a small flat press shop in Austin produce rock posters for Frank Kozik, as well as, Serigraphs for other artists they represented. Such as Robert Crumb, Ed Roth, Robert Williams, Joe Colman, and others. While printing all this great art, Lindsey realized there was a demand for what he had been doing for years and seized the opportunity to learn from these lowbrow masters helping to revive the lost art of the Rock Poster. He has continued to create posters for over 20 years, keeping his D. Ethic alive by printing his own work as well as other artists from around the world through his print company called SWAMP, which is now located in Denver, CO. Tool is an American rock. Band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1990, the group’s line-up has included drummer Danny Carey. And vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Since 1995, Justin Chancellor. The band emerged with a heavy metal. Sound on their first studio album, Undertow. (1993), and later became a dominant act in the alternative metal. Movement with the release of their second album, Ænima. Their efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts. And a message of personal evolution continued with Lateralus. (2001) and the most recent album, 10,000 Days. (2006), gaining the band critical acclaim and commercial success around the world. Due to Tool’s incorporation of visual arts and very long and complex releases, the band is generally described as a style-transcending act and part of progressive rock. Stubbs BBQ, Austin, TX. Concert Poster by Jermaine Rogers. Signed and Numbered Edition. Is most widely known as one of the leaders in the field of modern rock poster art. This involves the creating and production of promotional poster artwork featuring concerts, musical events, and musical releases by certain rock and roll artists. Jermaine Rogers has created these pieces of advertising since the year 1994. By 1996, due to growing workloads and collectible popularity in this field, Rogers abandoned his secular job to pursue the creation of poster art on a full-time basis. For the last few years, Jermaine has chosen to concentrate more on fine art, design, and other personal pursuits. Jermaine has designed nearly 800 posters for a wide variety of musical acts, including RADIOHEAD, NEIL YOUNG, TOOL, WEEZER, TORI AMOS, DAVID BOWIE, THE DEFTONES, THE MELVINS and literally hundreds of others. The Strokes are an American rock band from New York, consisting of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar, backing vocals), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar, backing vocals), Nikolai Fraiture (bass guitar) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums, percussion). Upon the release of their debut album Is This It in 2001, the group met much critical acclaim. Since then, the band has maintained a large fan base all over the world, most notably in the United States, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Canada, France, Brazil and Australia. A number of members have embarked on a variety of side projects, although a fourth album, entitled Angles, was released on March 22, 2011. They are one of the most prominent indie-rock bands to hail from the US at the dawn of the 21st century and helped start the garage rock revival movement. Is This It was ranked number 199 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The Moldy Peaches were an indie group founded by Adam Green and Kimya Dawson. Leading proponents of the anti-folk scene, the band has been on hiatus since 2004. The appearance of their song “Anyone Else but You” in the film Juno has significantly raised their profile; Dawson and Green made a handful of reunion appearances together in December 2007. Original SIGNED and numbered limited edition Concert Poster by Jermaine Rogers for an October 23rd, 2001 Strokes concert in Austin, TX! A cartoonish portrait of the band alongside what looks like a parody of a Thundercats character. The poster is in excellent condition. Performers: The Strokes & Moldy Peaches. Signed by the JERMAINE. From a Tea Party collector. True Tea Party Fact: Exact poster sizing measured from the two most common poster sizes is Large: 17.5W by 22H, and half size 11.25W by 17.5H. Also, 11 by 17 was common. Handbills generally were 8.5W by 11H. However, sometimes the posters and handbills were trimmed to fit into a glass case or on a wall where other events were being displayed. Also, the ones that hung in the venues tended to be larger. Thin poster card stock, for the majority of the posters. Beware the Authentic Original 2nd printing’s exact measurements are: 17 3/16″ x 23 1/4 ” any others are either trimmed or reprints. On the 1st printing, the blue background runs all the way to the border around the upper half of the poster. Most 2nd and 3rd printings pertain to posters from the BG (Bill Graham poster series of 1966-71) and the FD (Family Dog poster series of the same time period). Once promoters realized that psychedelic art “collectors” were tearing down the posters advertising their concerts, additional printings had to be run in order to market the shows. Later versions of the posters were sometimes printed for hippie poster shops or to satisfy the poster artist with a changing artistic vision. Most poster printings have very slight variations such as paper stock and size, small notation markings on the poster or different ink colors. Within individual printings, some nuances may occur during the course of a print run such as a change of paper stock or ink. These variations are indicated by the notations of A, B or C. Whenever these differences are significant we always explain the diffrences in these printings on our listings.
