ORIGINAL Concert Poster 14 x 21 Jefferson Airplane Fillmore Winterland San Francisco Ca. Presenting an original poster promoting a rock concert at the Fillmore and Winterland auditoriums in San Francisco, California. The performance dates were October 11-14, 1967 and the bands were the Jefferson Airplane, Blue Cheer and The Charlatans. The concert was a benefit for the Haight-Ashbury Medical Clinic and the poster artist was Bonnie Maclean (who would later be known as Bill Graham’s wife). This is a first (and only) printing done before the concert and the poster measures 14 X 21 1/16 inches. Artist Bonnie Maclean: During the early days of the Fillmore, MacLean was the most “present” member of the staff. Impressed with her lettering skill on the upcoming attractions chalkboards, Bill Graham surprised her with an easel and art supplies for Christmas, 1967, and MacLean’s poster artist career was launched. Untrained in graphic arts, MacLean’s early style evolved into ornate, Medieval-Gothic designs. Faces in her posters wore trance-like stares, steady and serene, and evoke the detached spirituality of the sixties. Time Honored Vintage Terms of Service. Miller found an outlet for his creativity in pin-striping cars and airbrushing hot rod designs on posters and T-shirts. Mouse migrated to San Francisco in 1964, where he first met the artists associated with Family Dog, the organization producing dance concerts at the Avalon Ballroom. With collaborator Alton Kelley, Mouse experimented broadly with composition, lettering and imagery: Kelley came up with the ideas and Mouse executed the designs. Mouse and Kelley helped to establish the psychedelic style of expression under the name Mouse Studios. Time Honored Vintage Terms of Service.
