Rare Vintage 1973 Concert Poster-Benefit For Mance Lipscomb Starring Taj Mahal. Fair overall condition-poster has likely yellowed some over time-there is some light staining/foxing, mainly around the border-there are 2 spots approximately 1 long each that may have previously been wrinkled/creased(also along the border). I acquired it framed in a rather bulky frame with cracked glass. A sticker on the back said that it was framed by Hobby Lobby. Matted on a piece of 1/4 thick foam. I’ve made no attempt to remove the black matting frame for fear of damaging the poster. Overall size is approximately 21 3/4″ tall X 15 3/4″ wide. Exposed part of the poster is approx. 16 5/8″ tall X 10 3/4″ wide. An uncommon vintage concert poster that would make a welcome addition to any collection. Vintage 1967 Sausalito Dance Concert Music Poster Big Brother & the Holding Co

This Listing is for an Original Vintage First Printing 1967 Music Poster of the Sausalito Dance Concert featuring Moby Grape and Big Brother & the Holding Co. The Poster was published in 1967 by Portal Publications Ltd. Up-and-coming star Janis Joplin and her band Big Brother and the Holding Company were the opening act. Within a year Janis would be a Rock Superstar. The Poster measures 16″ x 22″ inches. This Poster has been kept for over 50 Years in Excellent Condition by our Clients. However, there are some very minor condition issues that were present when they originally acquired it. The Top Right Corner has a crease and a slight bend in the material (see Listing Pic #4). And there is some slight edge wear on all four corners (see Listing pics #3, #5 & #6). Of the poster which would be typical of Vintage Era Artifacts. But that’s it! THE PABLO JAZZ FESTIVAL’77. Scarce and highly collectible large original vintage first printing concert poster advertising the “Pablo Jazz Festival’77” staged at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Thursday, 12th May, 1977, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, guitarist Joe Pass, trumpeters Roy Eldridge and Harry “Sweets” Edison, tenor saxophonist Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, drummer Louis Bellson, and double bassists Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and John Heard. Pablo initially featured recordings by acts that Granz managed: Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, and Joe Pass. Later, the label issued recordings by Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Milt Jackson, and Paulinho da Costa. The label also re-released 1950s recordings by Art Tatum, which Granz reacquired, and released unissued European live recordings of John Coltrane and his groups. In January 1987, it was announced that the label had been acquired by Fantasy Records for an undisclosed amount. The poster measures 59.8 x 83.7 cm approx. 23.5″ by 33″ inches and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. Unique, one of a kind, o riginal vintage first printin g concert poster advertising the Miles Davis Quintet at the Teatro Sistina in Rome [Italy] on Monday, 27th October, 1969. The concert in Rome was the second stop on the Quintet’s Oct/Nov European tour, having performed two concerts at the Teatro Lirico in Milan the day before. The concert was broadcast by Italian TV and a 28 minutes recording exists. After the Milan and Rome shows, the quintet went on to visit Vienna (31st Oct), London (1st & 2nd Nov), Paris (3rd Nov), Copenhagen (4th Nov), Stockholm (5th Nov), Berlin (7th Nov), Liege (8th Nov), and finally Rotterdam (9th Nov). Although most of the performances from this tour were recorded, the short-lived quintet was never recorded in the studio. The poster measures 34.7 x 99.3 cm approx. 13.7″ by 39.1″ inches and is beautifully printed on thin, light coated paper stock (coated on front only). AMERICAN FOLK BLUES FESTIVAL’65. And highly collectible original first printing concert poster designed to promote the “American Folk Blues Festival” October 1965 European package tour, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Big Mama Thornton, Lonesome Jimmy Lee, Eddie Boyd, Buddy Guy, Doctor Ross, Freddie Below, J. Lenoir, Big Shakey Horton, Roosevelt Sykes, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. It was legendary German promoters Horst Lippmann and Fritz Rau who were responsible for the festival since its start back in 1962 where they stuck upon the idea of bringing a cross section of American blues musicians to Europe for a package tour. Dubbed “The American Folk Blues Festival, ” the shows were a major success and played a vital role in exposing American roots music to a new and appreciative audience abroad, especially in the United Kingdom, where the concerts proved to be a significant eye-opener for the founding members of the British blues-rock boom. Lippman and Rau turned the tour into an annual event and, fortunately, arranged for their artists to appear on a series of television specials recorded for German television. The poster features delicate graphic artwork by Hans Michel and Günther Kieser, with their imprint to the lower right side border. The poster measures 60.0 x 84.3 cm approx. 23.6? By 33.2? Inches and is beautifully printed in multi-color on thin, uncoated paper stock.
