WILLIE NELSON HATCH SHOW PRINT ORIGINAL LETTERPRESS CONCERT POSTER THE FILLMORE – DETROIT, MI MAY 9, 2010 LIMITED EDITION OF 50 (not individually numbered) ONLY 50 WERE MADE FOR THIS EVENT MEASURES 12-3/4″ 21-1/4″ approximately CONDITION: EXCELLENT to near MINT! Very nice plate strike marks and depth on lettering. Colors are vibrant and bold. THIS PIECE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND AS ONLY 50 PRINTED FOR SHOW This is the same image that was used for his 4th of July Picnic Poster of the same year. Hatch Show Prints are printed on antique printing press with hand carved woodblock, hand carved linoleum and metal plates blocks. The plates/blocks are inked by hand, and are hand pulled for each color by the artist/designer for that project. It is not uncommon to see plate marks/stacking/bleed marks on reverse, and considered part the unique and charm of a piece that was created by hand. Some works have noticeable depth by touch from the heavy striking of the plate or block. Each piece can be slightly different as plates are hand inked and pulled for each color giving a unique quality within the edition. This is among the favorite and sought after of Willie Nelson images for gig poster collectors. The last 5 photos are from The Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit and are used as a refernce only to describe this piece. Obviously, I will not be including anything from the exhibit in this sale. About this piece from The Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHOF) Hatch Show Print designer-printer Julie Sola created a striking image of Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson for posters celebrating Nelson’s 2010 tours of Europe and the United Kingdom. Sola carved these three blocks that-when printed one atop the other-reveal Nelson’s complete portrait. Sola’s image of Nelson was sketched refined, and transferred to three same-size blocks of wood mounted with linoleum. Carbon paper was used to redraw the image on each block, in the same position. The parts of each block that should not print were carved away, leaving the images on the block.

This WILLIE NELSON original Unique Museum Quality Poster Art Piece is in “SUGAE” condition. That’s Screwed Up Good Around Edges because it was in a wrestling match at the Dallas Sportatorium Condition and is a beautiful work of art (“Yeah a Truckload of Art is Burning Near The Highway, Precious objects are scatted all over the ground” song by the great Terry Allen kinda gives you the picture here). 17 inches long by 11 inches wide on light card stock. I got this off the wall at Sound Warehouse(the old Kroger where my mother shopped) on Lemmon Ave at Knight Street(the home of Freddie King who lived 1/2 blk away) after I went to this great concert back in 1977(there it was right there on sound warehouse wall as you walked in). The Dallas Sportatorium Venue: I liked the way all the beer cans rolled downhill/ made their way toward the wrestling ring stage a sight to behold after such rocking Willie concert. This Vintage Willie Poster is perfect for framing which I never did. This poster is kinda rare. Are you Martin Sitka 1969 N-20 Trigger Happy yet?

Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July Picnic. RARE Original first printing – 40 – Year Old Concert Poster. (my red watermark won’t be on this). This poster also contains photographic images of Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. Other notable musicians include Jesse Colter, Faron Young, Jubal Clark and Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker. This was the second year in a row that the Picnic was held at Southpark Meadows, an outdoor music and events venue on the west side of I-35 South. This year The Highwaymen – Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings were the main event. Neil Young, fresh from yet another Farm Aid concert with Willie would make his very first Picnic appearance. Location – Southpark Meadows, Austin Tx. Dated – July – 4 – 1985. Artist – Danny Garrett. Measures – approx 20 x 36 – inches. Condition – great shape, see picture, clean with no rips or holes. One very tiny 1/4 tear on right border. The artist sells this poster for 1,000. An original concert poster for Willie Nelson performing at Cain’s Ballroom on February 19th, 1999 which syncs with the 75th Anniversary logo top left corner and a one sentence mention in a concert review back then that the concert had to be moved to the Brady Theatre for some reason — haven’t found another of these posters when googling so any information would be appreciated. Willie Nelson 1998 Original Rare Spirit Concert Tour Poster

Its hard to believe that he is 90 years old today. I bought this Poster from one of the managers working the concert that night (for 50 German marks). The poster is 33×23.5 and was only made for this concert in Koln (Cologne) Germany. I asked the manager how many posters they had for the concert and he said that the marketing company had given them just a couple, to help promote the concert. So the number of posters that were made, are very small in number. The Poster is in very fine to near mint condition and VERY rare. This poster is priced to sell!
