Theater, Ann Arbor – MI. Of all the great modern concert poster artists, Mark Arminski is the master of color. Studying the wide range of his images, one can see that time after time after time he has chosen his color combinations very carefully, and invariably they work well together, produce effects which please the viewers eye. Also his excellent sense of linear design consistently has created simple, balanced images which will have lasting appeal for generations not merely as memorabilia for the acts listed on them but as brilliant examples of graphic art. People will hang these posters on their walls long after the performers listed on them have passed into history. The long term values of these Arminski posters also will be enhanced by the fact that , unlike the press runs for posters created for many of the big promoters, the press runs for these posters and handbills were relatively small, usually only a few hundred, creating a natural scarcity. They are not just fine decor for your dining room walls. They are a great investment which should mature in value in decades to come. Furthermore unlike the vast majority of modern concert posters which are printed by machine, these are silk screen prints which historically have proven to be much more desirable. John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer-songwriter and guitarist. Hooker began his life as the son of a sharecropper, William Hooker, and rose to prominence performing his own unique style of what was originally a unique brand of country blues. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. His best known songs include “Boogie Chillen'” (1948), “I’m in the Mood” (1951) and “Boom Boom” (1962), the first two reaching R&B #1 in the Billboard charts. Date: April 27, 2000. Performers: John Lee Hooker, John Hammond & Larry McCray Band. Venue: Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor – MI. Dimensions: 10 1/2″ x 22 1/4″. Currently we have several of these in stock. BEN FOLDS FIVE Original CONCERT Poster S/N by Jermaine Rogers, 1998, Squirrel
Signed & Numbered Concert Poster. Is most widely known as one of the leaders in the field of modern rock poster art. This involves the creating and production of promotional poster artwork featuring concerts, musical events, and musical releases by certain rock and roll artists. Jermaine Rogers has created these pieces of advertising since the year 1994. By 1996, due to growing workloads and collectible popularity in this field, Rogers abandoned his secular job to pursue the creation of poster art on a full-time basis. For the last few years, Jermaine has chosen to concentrate more on fine art, design, and other personal pursuits. Jermaine has designed nearly 800 posters for a wide variety of musical acts, including RADIOHEAD, NEIL YOUNG, TOOL, WEEZER, TORI AMOS, DAVID BOWIE, THE DEFTONES, THE MELVINS and literally hundreds of others. Ben Folds Five is an alternative rock trio formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The group comprises Ben Folds (lead vocals, piano, keyboards, melodica, principal songwriting), Robert Sledge (bass, contrabass, synthesizer, backing vocals), and Darren Jessee (drums, percussion, backing vocals, songwriter, and co-writer for some songs). The group achieved mainstream success in the alternative, indie and pop music scenes. The band is best known for the hit single “Brick” from their 1997 album Whatever and Ever Amen , which gained airplay on many mainstream radio stations. During their seven years together, the band released three proper studio records, one retrospective album of B-sides and outtakes, and eight singles. They also contributed to a number of soundtracks and compilations. Ben Folds Five disbanded in October 2000, apparently under amicable circumstances. The group reunited for a one-off concert on September 18, 2008, where they played their album, The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner , in its entirety. In 2011, Ben Folds Five reunited to record three tracks for Ben Folds’ The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective. It was announced on Folds’ Twitter in January 2012 that the band has reunited to record a new album, released on September 18, 2012, titled The Sound of the Life of the Mind. As of March 1 of the same year, at least three tour dates have been added, including the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee, DeLuna Festival in Pensacola, Florida, and the Mountain Jam Festival in Hunter, NY. In July 2012 the band announced US and European tour dates for Fall 2012. Performers: Ben Folds Five. Venue: Numbers Night Club, Houston, TX. Dimensions: 11″ x 17″. Currently we have several of these in stock. All of them are from the same edition of 200 however, the individual print number in the picture may not match what you receive. And learn about me. With BRIGHT CHANNEL Sep 16th, 2006. At Boulder Theater, Boulder, CO. Poster by Lindsey Kuhn. Lindsey Kuhn – Is there a cerebral connection somewhere between art and skateboarding? For some people skating is an art, for others art has nothing to do with skating. Then there are those who combine these two things to form a lifestyle. Lindsey Kuhn has found a way to turn his passions into career, and has been both skating and creating art for over three decades. He was born in Evanston, IL, but grew up on the coast of Mississippi where the now infamous Swamp ramp(s) stood for over ten years. In 1983 he began screen-printing t-shirts primarily to pay for maintenance of the massive ramp. Those simple t-shirts have ballooned into an internationally known company called SWAMP. Today Lindsey is best known for his silk-screened rock posters for hundreds of bands like The Melvins, Tool, Atmosphere, AC/DC and more. Swamp also does custom printing and publishes work for other artists. Lindsey moved to Austin, TX in 1990 and within a year started printing posters for Southern Californias Limagerie Gallery. Limagerie set up a small flat press shop in Austin produce rock posters for Frank Kozik, as well as, Serigraphs for other artists they represented. Such as Robert Crumb, Ed Roth, Robert Williams, Joe Colman, and others. While printing all this great art, Lindsey realized there was a demand for what he had been doing for years and seized the opportunity to learn from these lowbrow masters helping to revive the lost art of the Rock Poster. He has continued to create posters for over 20 years, keeping his D. Ethic alive by printing his own work as well as other artists from around the world through his print company called SWAMP, which is now located in Denver, CO. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is an American neo-psychedelia band formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band’s output spans psychedelic rock, folk rock and shoegaze. The Brian Jonestown Massacre originally began as a shoegaze group in San Francisco in 1988. After their debut and sophomore albums, the group quickly turned to a broader style of psychedelic rock incorporating folk rock and, later, electronica influences. The name “Brian Jonestown Massacre” is a portmanteau of The Rolling Stones’ founder and guitarist Brian Jones and the infamous mass cult suicide in Jonestown, Guyana. The band have gained media notoriety for their tumultuous working relationships and the drug addiction of their leader, Anton Newcombe. An original signed and numbered poster designed b y Lindsey Kuhn , for a 2006 Brian Jonestown Massacre concert in Boulder, CO. A n eyeball on a fork, in front of a trippy spiral background.
