Designing posters since at least 1991, his work is highly creative and can include a detailed cartoon image, a performer’s portrait sketch, or require 3-D glasses for viewing. Rossit has been known to include his own face or those of friends in posters and always hides a yellow smiley-face in the composition, features of his sometimes quirky art that keeps the viewer scanning his posters for details far beyond the “who-when-where” facts. RANDY TUTEN’S THOUGHTS ON THIS PIECE: They were after me to design something for The Doors for a while, but I didn’t want to do a personality poster so we came up with an historical concert poster design, so I’d have something to work with besides just the band. They settled on a concert in N. City, the last show before they went to Miami and Jim got busted. The Staple Singers were on the show but they decided not to put them on the poster. The idea was that The Doors were as big as New York. The background is lattice work made up by the name of the band flipped over and upside down and repeated behind the city buildings with a great drawing of the band. The faces are drawn from the PR photo and were done by Whit Clifton. It came out quite nice. ALL PACKAGES MUST GO TO A CONFIRMED ADDRESS. ALL CLAIMS MUST BE WITH THE SHIPPER.
