THE PABLO JAZZ FESTIVAL’77. Scarce and highly collectible large original vintage first printing concert poster advertising the “Pablo Jazz Festival’77” staged at the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt [Germany] on Thursday, 12th May, 1977, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, guitarist Joe Pass, trumpeters Roy Eldridge and Harry “Sweets” Edison, tenor saxophonist Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, drummer Louis Bellson, and double bassists Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and John Heard. Pablo initially featured recordings by acts that Granz managed: Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, and Joe Pass. Later, the label issued recordings by Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Milt Jackson, and Paulinho da Costa. The label also re-released 1950s recordings by Art Tatum, which Granz reacquired, and released unissued European live recordings of John Coltrane and his groups. In January 1987, it was announced that the label had been acquired by Fantasy Records for an undisclosed amount. The poster measures 59.8 x 83.7 cm approx. 23.5″ by 33″ inches and is beautifully printed on thin, smooth-finish uncoated paper stock. There is a faint horizontal fold line at the middle, else in excellent unmarked condition. All items are guaranteed original and come with a guarantee of your satisfaction.
