1962 THE BEATLES original concert poster (Heswall Jazz Club) John Lennon
1962 The Beatles original concert poster. On June 30th 1962 The Beatles performed for the second of three times at the Heswall Jazz Club. The concert actually took place at the Barnston Women’s Institute on Barnston Road, Heswall. The Fab Four appeared together with The Big Three and the still relatively unknown boys were announced as “Parlophone Recording Artists”, having JUST been signed to EMI’s small spin off label by George Martin. Martin’s first recording session with the Beatles took place at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London on the 6th June 1962. Martin immediately complained to Brian Epstein about Pete Best’s poor drumming and suggested they use a session drummer in his place. Already contemplating Best’s dismissal, the Beatles replaced him in mid-August with Ringo Starr, who left Rory Storm and the Hurricanes to join them. And as the saying goes, the rest is history! Offered here is an exceptionally rare original poster advertising the performance at the Barnston Women’s Institute on June 30th. The pale blue poster measures 20 x 30 inches and has been stored folded (several times each way) for many years. Bold black and red print announces “An All Star Show – Merseyside’s Joy – The Fabulous Beatles”. Printed by Arthurs Press Ltd. The condition can be described as fair/good. There are multiple tears, creasing throughout, soiling and age related toning to the paper. All the paper is present in it’s original form. No restoration or alterations have been made. This second Heswall Jaz Club outing came at a pivotal time in the Beatles history. They had just signed the recording contract which would lead them to chart topping success, a wave of Beatlemania and subsequent worldwide fame. Within days of the Heswall performance Pete Best was fired from the group and replaced by Ringo Starr, forming the Beatles line up that will forever be remembered. BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB- ORIGINAL 2006 CONCERT POSTER s/n by Thomas Scott
BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB. At The Social, Orlando, FL. Signed and numbered Concert Poster by Thomas Scott aka Eye Noise. Thomas Scott , a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, worked at various Florida studios, including his own design firm, Eye Noise. During that time he produced a steady stream of high-profile projects for the resort and theme park industry. He designed flyers and posters for friends’ bands starting in high school. By the late 80s, cheaply offset posters were done for an Orlando promoter. These evolved into more sophisticated offset and screen printed pieces for local shows, independent bands and labels. Thomas is an active member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the American Poster Institute. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, now based in Los Angeles. BRMC is known for their garage rock, blues, folk revival, neo-psychedelia sound. They are influenced by bands such as: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Verve, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, T. Rex, The Velvet Underground and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club formed in 1998, taking its name from Marlon Brando’s motorcycle gang in the 1953 film The Wild One (The name of Lee Marvin’s gang had already been taken). Bassist Robert Levon Been and guitarist Peter Hayes met at high school in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Lafayette and quickly formed a band; Hayes having recently left The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Looking for a drummer, they met Nick Jago, from Devon, England, who had moved to California to be with his parents after spending some time at Winchester School of Art. The band was originally called The Elements, but after discovering that another band had the same name, they changed the name to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The vocals are shared between Been and Peter Hayes. The band’s first two records were indebted to classic hard rock influenced by Led Zeppelin and also encompassed slower paced psychedelic rock, space rock, and noise pop influences from bands such as The Verve, Loop, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Their second album Take Them On, On Your Own (recorded with Coldplay/Kasabian producer Rik Simpson) has several songs such as “Generation” and “US Government” that are critical of the United States government. Elefant was an indie rock band from New York City, led by Diego Garcia. Born in Detroit to Argentine parents in the late 1970s, Diego Garcia immersed himself in the sounds of Iggy Pop and MC5 at an early age. Music carried him throughout his tenure until his cardiologist father moved the family back to Tampa, Florida when Garcia was a young teenager, and by age 14 he got himself an acoustic guitar and started writing songs. As Garcia approached college life at Brown University in 1996, music was still calling him despite his course load in economics. During his junior year, Garcia realized he wanted a career in music instead. He left for New York City upon his 2000 graduation and began to look for musicians, eventually playing with the band Circus for a brief time. A year later, Garcia formed Elefant with bassist Jeff Berrall, guitarist Mod, and drummer Kevin McAdams. This is a signed and numbered screen printed poster from a limited edition of 75 prints. A pop-art illustration of a huge flaming heart bound with a chain and padlock. This was for a BRMC concert in Orlando, FL in 2006.
