1978 One Love Peace Concert Bob Marley Peter Tosh Original Concert Poster
The One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica was thought up by two rival political gangsters who were locked up together and who both wanted to end the violence between the two factions. The concert was dubbed Third World Woodstock and included major Jamaican acts like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, The Inner Circle, and Junior Tucker, who played to 32,000 spectators. During the middle of his song Jammin, Bob Marley joined the hands of political rivals Michael Manley and Edward Seaga. This original poster, measuring 16 1/4 x 22, is attached to a 2 thick foamboard. This poster was actually taken from the show in 1978 by a spectator. It was printed by the Art Printery LTD Kingston Jamaica, and attached to the foamboard, which shows numerous puncture holes on the back and along the sides, at that time. The main image of the poster displays well, but the corners are starting to come off the foam, especially in the top left corner. Although the poster shows some condition issues, it is a piece of Jamaican history from an important reggae show that was remembered by a nation.
