We invite you into a world of psychedelic muse with the original Bill Graham concert poster advertising the Jimi Hendrix Experience headlining the Winterland Auditorium from 10/10-12, 1968. This iconic piece also marks Hendrix’s very last performance at the Fillmore before his untimely death in 1970. Most notably, this poster is the result of a remarkable collaboration between two visionary artists, Rick Griffin and Victor Moscoso, whose creative genius brought forth a design that defied convention and captivated the minds of the era. Drawing inspiration from their work in ZAP COMIX, Griffin and Moscoso pushed the boundaries of traditional concert poster design. Their collaboration resulted in a visually stunning and conceptually symbolic piece of art. In a symphony of gold, green, and various shades of blue set against a black background, Griffin & Mosocos’ central image comes alive. A dancing beetle, gracefully balanced on its hindmost pair of legs, captivating the viewer’s gaze. Just below, six slightly oval Yin Yang symbols with dancing legs further enhance the mesmerizing composition. The beetle, a sacred symbol in Egyptian culture, holds the sun within its top two legs, casting radiant rays in shades of blue across the artwork. This mesmerizing image forms an artistically expressive image created by the collaborative brilliance of Victor Moscoso and Rick Griffin. This Jimi Hendrix Expereince poster, BG-140, is an original first printing, an invaluable gem for collectors and enthusiasts. It is presented behind glass and orange matte in a black metal frame which measures about 25″ high x 18″ diameter. The glass shows a nick at the bottom left edge. The artwork alone measures approximately 21.5″ x 14″. The poster, in good condition, shows age appropriate toning and fading. There are no tears to the artwork.
