THE REVEREND HORTON HEAT. By Mike Martin – Enginehouse13. EngineHouse13 was formed in the fall 2000 with the idea to continue to produce limited edition concert art and to keep all involved somewhat sane. EngineHouse13’s brainchild, Mike Martin is a dedicated music lover that cranks out some of today’s best and most recognizable limited edition posters and designs in the world. The founding member of EH13, Mike Martin, is the driving force behind the EH13 phenomenon, the creative mastermind and the glue that keeps it all together and running like a well oiled small block! Mike is an avid pop culture, lowbrow art collector and is a car freak with an affliction for the custom and fenderless four wheel wonders. Now in their 9th year as a fully independent studio, the future is getting brighter and greasier by the day! The Reverend Horton Heat is the stage name of American musician Jim Heath (born 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas) as well as the name of his Dallas, Texas-based psychobilly trio. Heath is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. The group originally formed in 1985, playing its first gigs in Dallas’s Deep Ellum neighborhood. Its current members are Jim “Reverend Horton” Heath on guitar and lead vocals, Jimbo Wallace on the upright bass, and Paul Simmons on drums. Their sound is self-described as “country-fed punkabilly”. Some of their songs could also be described as psychobilly. Their music is a mixture of country, surf, punk, big band, swing, and rockabilly, all played loud and energetically with lyrics that are often very humorous. The band has achieved success within the genre and even in mainstream America with many of their songs being featured in video games and commercials. Stuart Daniel Baker , better known by his stage name, Unknown Hinson , is a comedic country musician, songwriter, and voice actor. He is perhaps best known for his role as the voice of Early Cuyler on the Adult Swim cartoon series Squidbillies. The poster is a screen print, in very good condition, signed and numbered by the artist Mike Martin of enginehouse13 Studios, from a limited edition of 100 prints. B&W images of old-school cars between bright neon panels. This was for a 2003 Reverend Horton Heat show in Columbus, Ohio. Tulagi’s, Boulder – CO. Signed & Numbered Concert Poster. Is there a cerebral connection somewhere between art and skateboarding? For some people skating is an art, for others art has nothing to do with skating. Then there are those who combine these two things to form a lifestyle. Lindsey Kuhn has found a way to turn his passions into career, and has been both skating and creating art for over three decades. He was born in Evanston, IL, but grew up on the coast of Mississippi where the now infamous Swamp ramp(s) stood for over ten years. In 1983 he began screen-printing t-shirts primarily to pay for maintenance of the massive ramp. Those simple t-shirts have ballooned into an internationally known company called SWAMP. Today Lindsey is best known for his silk-screened rock posters for hundreds of bands like The Melvins, Tool, Atmosphere, AC/DC and more. Swamp also does custom printing and publishes work for other artists. Lindsey moved to Austin, TX in 1990 and within a year started printing posters for Southern Californias Limagerie Gallery. Limagerie set up a small flat press shop in Austin produce rock posters for Frank Kozik, as well as, Serigraphs for other artists they represented. Such as Robert Crumb, Ed Roth, Robert Williams, Joe Colman, and others. While printing all this great art, Lindsey realized there was a demand for what he had been doing for years and seized the opportunity to learn from these lowbrow masters helping to revive the lost art of the Rock Poster. He has continued to create posters for over 20 years, keeping his D. Ethic alive by printing his own work as well as other artists from around the world through his print company called SWAMP, which is now located in Denver, CO. Are an American post-hardcore band led by Rick Froberg and John Reis, formed in 1999 in San Diego, California. Reis and Froberg had previously performed together in Pitchfork and Drive Like Jehu, after which Reis had found international success with Rocket from the Crypt. Hot Snakes disbanded in 2005 but reunited in 2011. Although they share sonic similarities with bands its members had previously been involved with, Hot Snakes’ sound is much more primal than that of Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu or even Rocket from the Crypt. Reis and Froberg were also heavily influenced by bands such as The Wipers, Suicide, and Michael Yonkers Band, and these influences gave Hot Snakes a distinctive sound that has been described by one critic as hardcore garage punk. ” The band’s recordings and merchandise were conducted in a “Do it Yourself manner, with Froberg providing all of the artwork and Reis releasing the material via his Swami Records label. ORIGINAL POSTER PRODUCTION ART. Featuring THE KINKS, ALLMAN BROTHER BAND, SAVOY BROWN. FLEETWOOD MAC, BLACK SABBATH, JONI MITCHELL. KING CRIMSON, EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, MARK ALMOND. SHA NA NA, DEEP PURPLE, J. GEILS BAND & HUMBLE PIE. Original, one-of-a-kind SIGNED item, by Randy Tuten. In January 1969, after a year of being rejected as a poster artist by Chet Helms at the Avalon, 23-year-old Randy Tuten took his portfolio to the Fillmore where Bill Graham immediately hired him. Tuten was partial to traditional advertising styles, Graham was bound to receive his work as something considerably more akin to his own taste. Randy Tuten is the only poster artist to span 5 decades designing for The Fillmore. He remains a prolific poster designer today, and still a regular producer for Bill Graham Presents and other promoters. Tuten’s work has long been recognized for its seminal influence in the art of modern rock and roll, and has been featured in major museum exhibits as well as in several important book-length retrospective studies of rock art. Though his work shows the influences of the 60’s era, it has also evolved in recent years into an orderly and highly varied style of ornamental commercial art, often reminiscent of the advertising used in the deco era. The general consensus in the rock art community is that he has continued to grow as an artist and may be doing his best, most creative and exciting work at the present time. His posters are now a part of rock history, and for both curator and collector, will always be among the most desirable and telling artifacts of West Coast rock aesthetics. This is a one-of-a-kind mock-up by renowned rock poster artist Randy Tuten for a 1972 poster, advertising upcoming concerts at California venues Winterland and Berkeley Community Theatre, including The Kinks, Allman Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, Joni Mitchell and more. It is printed on the back of a 2x uncut Creedance Clearwater Revival poster, see 8th photo. As a piece of production art it is made up of numerous pieces individually glued onto the sheet. It has some wear, markings and discoloration, and a tiny bit of water damage on the very bottom, but is in very good condition over all, and it is SIGNED by Randy Tuten. Please check out the photos, all 8 are of the actual item. It’s a very cool, very rare, signed item featuring lots of great artists and a bit of insight into the poster production process! Date: Produced in 1972, concert dates ranged from February 27th to April 22nd Performers: The Kinks, Allman Brothers Band, Albert King, Savoy Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Long John Baldry, Black Sabbath, Yes, Wild Turkey, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, King Crimson, Malo, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Mark Almond, Sha Na Na, Deep Purple, Buddy Miles, J. Theater, Ann Arbor – MI. Of all the great modern concert poster artists, Mark Arminski is the master of color. Studying the wide range of his images, one can see that time after time after time he has chosen his color combinations very carefully, and invariably they work well together, produce effects which please the viewers eye. Also his excellent sense of linear design consistently has created simple, balanced images which will have lasting appeal for generations not merely as memorabilia for the acts listed on them but as brilliant examples of graphic art. People will hang these posters on their walls long after the performers listed on them have passed into history. The long term values of these Arminski posters also will be enhanced by the fact that , unlike the press runs for posters created for many of the big promoters, the press runs for these posters and handbills were relatively small, usually only a few hundred, creating a natural scarcity. They are not just fine decor for your dining room walls. They are a great investment which should mature in value in decades to come. Furthermore unlike the vast majority of modern concert posters which are printed by machine, these are silk screen prints which historically have proven to be much more desirable. John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer-songwriter and guitarist. Hooker began his life as the son of a sharecropper, William Hooker, and rose to prominence performing his own unique style of what was originally a unique brand of country blues. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. His best known songs include “Boogie Chillen'” (1948), “I’m in the Mood” (1951) and “Boom Boom” (1962), the first two reaching R&B #1 in the Billboard charts. Date: April 27, 2000.
