The Who Boston MA Tea Party Concert Poster 1969 Ultra Rare
1969 Original Who Poster Boston Tea Party, Boston MA, The Who. Played at 15 Lansdowne st, Boston, MA. It features an incredible image of Pete Townsend in his classic mid-air leap. Art by Eric Engstrom, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 307 (plate 3.172). Medium flat index stock poster with discoloration and 3 torn corners from usage wear. Approx 17 x 22. WOULD LOOK AMAZING FRAMED or refurbished! Still the best poster I ever did – the strongest graphically anyway. The image of Peter was based on a blurry photograph; I hand drew his visage and my own “WHO” logo using a Rapidograph pen that constantly clogged up. I doubt anyone ever envisioned that they would someday become collector items. They were intended to be posted on walls, telephone poles, etc. To advertise that weeks performing artists only to be torn down, discarded and replaced next week with a new poster for the next show. Three (3) shows at the legendary Boston Tea Party, 15 Lansdowne Street in Boston, MA on October 5-6-7, 1970. Measures 8.5 x 8.5. Signed Engstrom bottom right. Condition: Bright vivid colors. Very Fine condition with some staining and one thumb tack hole on the top. (drums and percussion)were joined by. (lead vocals), played a few shows in May 1969, during a break in Ronnie Wood’s and Rod Stewart’s commitments with the Jeff Beck Group. Later that summer Wood and Stewart parted ways with Beck and joined Lane, McLagan and Jones full-time. Your item will be well packed.
