DALLAS TEXAS 1979 DJ’S PUNK ROCK FESTIVAL HISTORY CONCERT POSTER. THE FIRST ANNUAL NEW WAVE RETREAT. This concert was on October 5th, 1979 (2nd day was cancelled) at the Yellow Belly Speedway in Grand Prarie, TX next to my favorite 9 hole goat ranch golf course = Sunset Golf Course and past the great Triumph Motorcycle Shop on West Davis Street. Coming from downtown Dallas get on Fort Worth Ave (goes past Belmont Hotel – think Alejandro Escovedo House), turns into Davis Street/Hwy 80. I got this poster off the wall at the Sound Warehouse store (old Kroger) on Lemmon Ave at Knight Street the week after the concert there it was still and therefore immediately came into my possession and I stored it in a stack of posters with the edges sticking out causing all light fade damage during a 46 year reign. 24 inches long by 15 inches wide on light card stock. This Vintage Poster is perfect for framing which I never did. This poster is kinda rare. The greatest New Wave concert I ever saw was on a Monday Feb 23rd 1981 at The Starwood in Hollywood when the band Human Sexual Response rocked most of their album Fig. Ann Frank Story was a mind bender. Dick and Jane with mind warp feedback. The Day the Dolls Came Alive was HARDEST ROCK. I also liked to go see STICK MEN WITH RAY GUNS when they played at the Metamorphosis Records on McKinney Ave with the folding chairs not behaving because of the decibel strain. Even better when after the High Intensity Ray Guns show you could wind down if the stars aligned with THE LOTIONS reggae band at Poor David’s Pub across the street way on McKinney.
