SUPER RARE + GRATEFUL DEAD 1966 Avalon Ballroom Original Concert Poster FD 26 (3) 3rd Print. Stanley Mouse ORIGINAL 3rd Printing. Has pin holes in the corners. Bright color with a clean back. Please see pictures for condition. The following is an excerpt from classicposters. Com. Undoubtedly the most famous poster from the Family Dog series, as well as the most recognized image ever used by the Grateful Dead. The central image is a drawing done by Edward Joseph Sullivan, a late 19th and early 20th century artist. Sullivan created this drawing to illustrate one of the quatrains of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Mouse and Kelley added the color, as the original drawing was in black and white. The resulting poster has lived on through time and has increased in value at a dramatic pace. Since most of these posters were hung on walls at the time of the concerts, many exhibit severe damage and discoloration. Finding a Near Mint original poster will require a lot of patience, as well as an open checkbook. The original poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14? The notation “The Bindweed Press San Francisco” appears immediately above the right side of the ticket strip. Many originals show some degree of over-inking. The second print poster was printed on vellum and measures approximately 14? The notation “26(2)” appears in the lower left corner, as well as the Bindweed credit. The third print poster was printed on uncoated index stock and measures approximately 14? The notation “26(3)” appears in the lower left corner. There are seven different forgeries of this poster, all of which are listed in the guide by Eric King. By far, the most common is the unauthorized reprint that does not have the Bindweed credit and also eliminates the Mouse! Original Family Dog Concert Poster. FD21-OP1 First Printing “Earthquake”. Big Brother and the Holding Company. Live at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco August 12, 13, 1966. Condition (see image): Very Good considering the posters age. Pinhole damage in corners, 1cm missing paper on bottom border. The image is still very vibrant and would look great framed! Printed in bright red and blue, this poster has a central image of the Sonoma County Court House just after the 1906 earthquake. FD 27 OP Howlin’ Wolf Concert Poster Family Dog Avalon Mouse Signed CGC GRADED 7

Original Family Dog Concert Poster. Big Brother and the Holding Company. Live at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco September 23, 24, 1966. Condition (see image): CGC Graded 7.0 Restored Restoration includes: color touch, piece added, tear seals. A scarce poster with two original runs totaling roughly 3,000 posters. The original press runs vary slightly in color, with some having a pure orange color and some that are nearly red. This poster was never reprinted, presumably because the shows were canceled-making it very sought-after and expensive today. This is also the only Family Dog concert for which silk-screened posters were made before the concert. These magnificent posters are much larger than the original printings and are very rare today. Only 20 or 30 were produced. The larger silkscreen poster measures approximately 21? Description: This marvelous concert poster of a 1967 advertisement for the historic Grateful Dead 2-day concert on January 27 – 28, 1967, at the Avalon Ballroom, in San Francisco. The Poster itself is fully intact. It looks to have a little original wear at the top along with little wave around center. It’s pretty pristine in my option cause you can see the real age in it. Beautiful custom frame with measurement – 20 X 27 Inches. The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. The band is known for its eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, folk, country, jazz, bluegrass, blues, gospel, and psychedelic rock; for live performances of lengthy instrumental jams; and for its devoted fan base, known as Deadheads. ” “Their music, ” writes Lenny Kaye, “touches on ground that most other groups don’t even know exists. ” These various influences were distilled into a diverse and psychedelic whole that made the Grateful Dead “the pioneering Godfathers of the jam band world.
