AMERICAN FOLK BLUES FESTIVAL’65. And highly collectible original first printing concert poster designed to promote the “American Folk Blues Festival” October 1965 European package tour, presented by Lippmann+Rau. Performing artists included Big Mama Thornton, Lonesome Jimmy Lee, Eddie Boyd, Buddy Guy, Doctor Ross, Freddie Below, J. Lenoir, Big Shakey Horton, Roosevelt Sykes, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. It was legendary German promoters Horst Lippmann and Fritz Rau who were responsible for the festival since its start back in 1962 where they stuck upon the idea of bringing a cross section of American blues musicians to Europe for a package tour. Dubbed “The American Folk Blues Festival, ” the shows were a major success and played a vital role in exposing American roots music to a new and appreciative audience abroad, especially in the United Kingdom, where the concerts proved to be a significant eye-opener for the founding members of the British blues-rock boom. Lippman and Rau turned the tour into an annual event and, fortunately, arranged for their artists to appear on a series of television specials recorded for German television. The poster features delicate graphic artwork by Hans Michel and Günther Kieser, with their imprint to the lower right side border. The poster measures 60.0 x 84.3 cm approx. 23.6? By 33.2? Inches and is beautifully printed in multi-color on thin, uncoated paper stock. A couple of tiny pin holes to the corners and a few pieces of acid-free archival tape on the rear, else in near excellent unfolded condition. Offering for sale a very rare 1962 Philadelphia Folk Festival concert poster. This Concert took place September 8-9 on the Wilson Estate near Philadelphia. Featured performers being, Reverend Gary Davis, Pete Seeger, Ramblin Jack Elliott, Greenbriar boys, Obray Ramsey, Pete Seeger and many others not billed. 1962 was the very first year of this annual folk festival. He personally obtained this poster at the show. Hung onto it during many moves during that era. Eventually safely storing it away for the last 50+ years untouched. This poster is 100% authentic, original and unrestored. Please look closely at the provided pictures as they are the actual item. Overall condition is fair, with many marks, areas of discoloration and what not, and some pinholes… AGAIN look closely at the pictures to get a clear idea of the condition. BOB DYLAN Joan Baez Original 1964 Newport Folk Festival Concert Ticket Stub

This is an authentic original COMPLETE UNUSED (printed BEFORE the concert) concert ticket for. The NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL 1964 – The famous folk festival included Bob Dylan’s first solo appearance at this world famous festival (as well as duets with Joan Baez during her Friday, July 24 evening set) and she also sat in on his Sunday, July 26 evening set. This is a ticket stub for Dylan’s Sunday, July 26, 1964 evening show. Performers at this festival show were. Dueting on at least two songs, Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Mississippi John Hurt, Kentucky Colonels, Odetta, Pete Seeger, the Stanley Brothers, Staple Singers, Dave Van Ronk, and more. The festival took place July 23-26, 1964 at Freebody Park in Newport, Rhode Island. Dylan made three separate appearances at this festival. After playing two songs at an afternoon workshop on the 24th Dylan joins Joan Baez for her evening set for “It Ain’t Me, Babe” and at least one other song I have an unused ticket for that show that. He then did his own set (his first solo set at Newport) during the Sunday Evening, July 26 show, where Joan joined him for “With God On Our Side”. That song, as well as “Chimes of Freedom” have. This is large ticket stub from that July 26 show. Additionally I have included scans of the ticket order form/brochure for this festival that details the specific shows at the festival and also from the program for the festival, both showing Bob Dylan as a headliner of the July 26 evening show. Those two items are NOT included with this ticket! This is an unbelievably rare item! The ticket stub measures 1 1/2 to 2 x 1 1/2 inches and other than where it was torn from the full ticket is in Near Mint Minus condition. On the back of the stub the person that went to the show wrote in blue ink “14 R 3″ but when I acquired this from him he didn’t remember why he wrote that. Please see photo for accurate image report.
