Very nice plate strike marks and depth on lettering. Colors are vibrant and bold. THIS PIECE IS EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND AS ONLY 50 PRINTED FOR SHOW This is the same image that was used for his 4th of July Picnic Poster of the same year. Hatch Show Prints are printed on antique printing press with hand carved woodblock, hand carved linoleum and metal plates blocks. The plates/blocks are inked by hand, and are hand pulled for each color by the artist/designer for that project. It is not uncommon to see plate marks/stacking/bleed marks on reverse, and considered part the unique and charm of a piece that was created by hand. Some works have noticeable depth by touch from the heavy striking of the plate or block. Each piece can be slightly different as plates are hand inked and pulled for each color giving a unique quality within the edition. This is among the favorite and sought after of Willie Nelson images for gig poster collectors. The last 5 photos are from The Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit and are used as a refernce only to describe this piece. Obviously, I will not be including anything from the exhibit in this sale. About this piece from The Country Music Hall of Fame (CMHOF) Hatch Show Print designer-printer Julie Sola created a striking image of Country Music Hall of Fame member Willie Nelson for posters celebrating Nelson’s 2010 tours of Europe and the United Kingdom. Sola carved these three blocks that-when printed one atop the other-reveal Nelson’s complete portrait. Sola’s image of Nelson was sketched refined, and transferred to three same-size blocks of wood mounted with linoleum. Carbon paper was used to redraw the image on each block, in the same position. The parts of each block that should not print were carved away, leaving the images on the block.
